Where to drink Champagne in Seville?

Seville is sherry country. Old bodegas pour fino and manzanilla straight from the barrel, and the tapas bars stay busy until late. Champagne has found its own corners here too, on hotel rooftops facing the Giralda, in old town wine bars and in restaurants where the wine list moves easily from Andalusian bottles to grower Champagne.

Most of the Champagne on the map sits within walking distance of the Cathedral. Santa Cruz and the Arenal, the old district between the Cathedral and the river, have rooftop terraces where a bottle of Champagne comes with a view of the Giralda, plus narrow streets full of wine bars and classic taverns. Cross the Puente de Triana and you reach Triana, where restaurants look back over the Guadalquivir towards the old town.

Alongside the tapas bars, Seville has a growing group of restaurants cooking contemporary Andalusian food, and their wine lists often carry a proper Champagne section, with small growers sitting next to the well-known houses. Most places in Seville sell Champagne by the bottle. A pour by the glass is harder to find, so if that’s what you’re after, check the listing before you go.

Explore the Champagne Hunters map before you head out. If you find a bar or restaurant serving real Champagne that isn’t listed yet, add it to the map and help the next Champagne lover find it.

Good to know

Seville eats late. Lunch rarely starts before 14:00 and dinner tables fill up from around 21:00, so a glass of Champagne at 20:00 counts as an early aperitif. In July and August daytime temperatures often go above 40°C, which makes a rooftop terrace after sunset the most comfortable place to open a bottle. Spring is the busiest season, especially during Semana Santa and the April Fair, when popular restaurants book out well in advance.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I drink Champagne in Seville?

Start around the Cathedral, in Santa Cruz and the Arenal, where rooftop bars, wine bars and hotel restaurants keep Champagne on the list. Triana, across the river, and the quieter streets near Plaza de España are worth a look too. Use the Champagne Hunters map to see the listed venues.

Can I order Champagne by the glass in Seville?

It’s possible, but not common. Most venues on our map in Seville sell Champagne by the bottle only. Use the map filter to find places that pour it by the glass, and if you find a new one, add it to the map or comment on an existing listing.

What should I eat with Champagne in Seville?

Fried fish and prawns are easy matches, and so is jamón ibérico. Good tinned seafood, which several Seville bars treat as a speciality, also works surprisingly well with a dry Champagne.

What else should I drink in Seville?

Sherry. Fino from Jerez and manzanilla from Sanlúcar de Barrameda are the classic local choices, served cold and dry, and some old bodegas still pour them from the barrel. During the April Fair you’ll see everyone drinking rebujito, which is manzanilla mixed with lemon soda.

When is the best time to drink Champagne in Seville?

Spring and autumn are the most pleasant seasons for sitting outside. In summer, wait until the sun goes down. Rooftop bars are at their best after dark, when the heat finally drops.

What should I see in Seville?

Visit the Cathedral and climb the Giralda, walk through the gardens of the Real Alcázar and the lanes of Santa Cruz, then cross the river to Triana for its ceramics workshops. Plaza de España is lovely for an evening walk.

What counts as Champagne on Champagne Hunters?

Champagne Hunters only lists venues serving authentic Champagne from the Champagne region of France. Cava and other Spanish sparkling wines are not included unless the venue also serves Champagne.
