Where to drink Champagne in Seville?
Seville is sherry country. Old bodegas pour fino and manzanilla straight from the barrel, and the tapas bars stay busy until late. Champagne has found its own corners here too, on hotel rooftops facing the Giralda, in old town wine bars and in restaurants where the wine list moves easily from Andalusian bottles to grower Champagne.
Most of the Champagne on the map sits within walking distance of the Cathedral. Santa Cruz and the Arenal, the old district between the Cathedral and the river, have rooftop terraces where a bottle of Champagne comes with a view of the Giralda, plus narrow streets full of wine bars and classic taverns. Cross the Puente de Triana and you reach Triana, where restaurants look back over the Guadalquivir towards the old town.
Alongside the tapas bars, Seville has a growing group of restaurants cooking contemporary Andalusian food, and their wine lists often carry a proper Champagne section, with small growers sitting next to the well-known houses. Most places in Seville sell Champagne by the bottle. A pour by the glass is harder to find, so if that’s what you’re after, check the listing before you go.
Explore the Champagne Hunters map before you head out. If you find a bar or restaurant serving real Champagne that isn’t listed yet, add it to the map and help the next Champagne lover find it.
Good to know
Seville eats late. Lunch rarely starts before 14:00 and dinner tables fill up from around 21:00, so a glass of Champagne at 20:00 counts as an early aperitif. In July and August daytime temperatures often go above 40°C, which makes a rooftop terrace after sunset the most comfortable place to open a bottle. Spring is the busiest season, especially during Semana Santa and the April Fair, when popular restaurants book out well in advance.
