Where to drink Champagne in Spain?
Spain has a strong food and wine culture, so Champagne fits naturally into the country’s restaurant and bar scene. Barcelona and Madrid are the obvious places to start, but you’ll find Champagne in destinations all around the country, from the Costa del Sol and Valencia to the Balearic Islands.
Of course, Spain has plenty of its own bubbles too. Cava is the obvious one, particularly from Catalonia, but there are also other traditional-method sparkling wines worth discovering. If you normally drink Champagne, comparing it with a good Cava can be a fun part of travelling through Spain.
Good to know
Spain is an easy country for Champagne lovers because seafood, oysters, jamón, tapas and all kinds of salty snacks give you endless pairing possibilities. And with so many different wine regions, it’s worth leaving some room for local bottles too.
Check the Champagne Hunters map before you go, and if you find a place that’s already listed, comment and share your experience. If you discover somewhere missing, add your find to the map yourself – especially if you find a good Champagne-by-the-glass option.
