Champagne bars and restaurants in Georgia
Georgia offers an interesting mix of Southern hospitality, modern city dining and a growing food and drink culture. Atlanta is the state’s main destination for Champagne, with upscale restaurants, luxury hotels, wine bars and stylish lounges. Savannah offers a very different experience, with historic architecture, charming restaurants and a slower pace that suits leisurely dining.
Atlanta’s neighbourhoods each have their own character. Buckhead is the obvious choice for luxury hotels, fine dining and upscale shopping, while Midtown has a lively restaurant and cultural scene. West Midtown is known for contemporary restaurants and nightlife, and Inman Park and Virginia-Highland offer a more relaxed neighbourhood atmosphere.
Georgia’s food culture makes what foods to pair with Champagne in Georgia particularly interesting. Fresh seafood, oysters and fried chicken can all work surprisingly well with Champagne, while Southern ingredients such as peaches, pecans and local cheeses offer plenty of other possibilities.
Georgia has a long and complex history, from its Indigenous peoples and colonial beginnings to its important role in the American Civil War and Civil Rights Movement. Atlanta in particular became a major centre of the Civil Rights Movement, and places such as the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park remain important parts of the city.
Good to know
Atlanta is the best starting point for a modern food and Champagne experience, while Savannah is ideal if you want historic surroundings and a slower Southern atmosphere.
