Where to drink Champagne in Luxembourg City?
Luxembourg City is built on cliffs and in valleys, so the old town above and the Grund quarter below feel like two different places, linked by lifts, stairs and steep lanes. It’s a small capital with a large international crowd and a strong taste for good food. Champagne is easy to find here, and the Champagne region itself is less than three hours away by car.
Most of the Champagne on our map is in the Ville Haute, the upper old town around Place d’Armes, Place Guillaume II and the Grand Ducal Palace. Brasseries, cocktail bars and a dedicated Champagne bar focused on grower Champagne sit within a few streets of each other. Down in the Grund and Clausen, along the Alzette river, restaurants and bars occupy old stone houses beneath the fortress walls, some with terraces cut into the rock.
The city also has several Michelin-starred restaurants with long Champagne lists, and wine runs deep in Luxembourg’s culture. The country’s own vineyards line the Moselle, about half an hour east, where Crémant de Luxembourg and crisp white wines are made.
Explore the Champagne Hunters map before you go. If you find a bar or restaurant serving real Champagne that isn’t listed yet, add it to the map and help the next Champagne lover find it.
