The best champagne glasses (and why to skip the flute)

Good Champagne deserves good company – and the right accessories make every glass taste just a little bit better. Whether you’re treating yourself, looking for a gift, or stocking up before a celebration, here are the Champagne accessories we actually use and recommend. All available on Amazon.

The glass matters more than you think

Here’s something most people get wrong: Champagne does not belong in a flute. The narrow shape traps the aromas and gives you bubbles, but little else. A white wine glass – or better yet, a larger tulip-shaped glass – lets the wine breathe, opens up the nose, and makes every sip more complex and enjoyable. For vintage Champagne, we often go even further and use a red wine glass. The difference is remarkable.

Our favourite Champagne glasses on Amazon

White wine glasses – our everyday pick – These are the glasses we reach for most often. A good white wine glass has the right bowl size to let Champagne open up, while still keeping the bubbles lively. Riedel makes excellent options in this style and they work beautifully across the full range – from entry-level grower Champagnes to prestige cuvées.

Keep it cold: champagne buckets and chillers

Champagne should be served at 8–10°C. That means keeping the bottle cold from the moment you open it – not just for the first pour. A good bucket or chiller does that work for you.

Enoluxe insulated Champagne chiller (no ice required) – This is our favourite for home use. It’s double-walled and insulated, which means you pre-chill the bottle in the fridge and then this keeps it at temperature for hours – no ice, no water, no mess on the table. Sleek enough to leave out when guests arrive.

Classic stainless steel ice bucket – Sometimes you just want the classic look – ice, bottle, table. This polished stainless steel bucket is exactly that: simple, elegant, does the job. A staple for dinner parties and celebrations.

Don’t waste a drop: champagne stoppers

Opened a bottle but can’t finish it? A proper stopper clamps onto the bottle and keeps the pressure in – so tomorrow’s glass is still bubbly. A regular wine cork won’t do this. We use the Pafusen stainless steel Champagne stoppers – solid build, food-grade silicone seal, and they actually hold the pressure. Inexpensive and you’ll use them constantly.

A gift worth giving

A pair of good white wine glasses, a Pafusen stopper, and a chiller bucket – that’s already a beautiful gift for any Champagne lover in your life. Wrap it together and it’s something they’ll actually use, not just look at.
