Where to drink Champagne in Wales?
Wales may be better known for its dramatic landscapes and cosy pubs, but there’s also a growing restaurant, wine and sparkling wine scene to explore. Cardiff is the obvious starting point for Champagne, with a good mix of restaurants, wine bars and hotels, while destinations such as Swansea, Newport and the coastal towns offer more relaxed options.
Wales also has its own sparkling wine producers, with vineyards taking advantage of the country’s cool climate. If you come across Welsh sparkling wine, it’s definitely worth trying alongside Champagne. And when it comes to what to eat with Champagne, Welsh seafood, oysters, smoked salmon and local cheeses are easy choices.
Good to know
Wales is a great destination if you want to combine Champagne, good food and spectacular scenery. Spend some time in Cardiff, then head out into the countryside or towards the coast – and finish the day with a glass of bubbles.
Check the Champagne Hunters map before you go, and if you find a place that’s already listed, comment and share your experience. If you discover somewhere missing, add your find to the map yourself – especially if you find a good Champagne-by-the-glass option.
