Where to drink Champagne in Rotterdam?
Rotterdam is a very different Dutch city from Amsterdam – modern, energetic and heavily shaped by its port and international population. That character comes through in the food and drink scene too. You’ll find everything from wine bars and modern European restaurants to seafood spots, cocktail bars and places built around international cuisines.
For Champagne, the city centre, Witte de Withstraat and Oude Noorden are good areas to explore, but Rotterdam is spread out enough that it’s worth checking the map rather than sticking to one neighbourhood. Champagne works particularly well here with the city’s excellent seafood and international food scene.
Rotterdam is also an interesting place to explore Dutch wine and sparkling wine, although the country’s main vineyards are further south in Limburg. If you’re travelling around the Netherlands, you can easily make Rotterdam part of a wider food and wine itinerary rather than treating it as a destination only for Champagne.
Good to know
Rotterdam’s modern architecture is part of the experience, so make some time to wander between the Markthal, Cube Houses, Erasmus Bridge and the waterfront rather than planning every stop around food and drinks.
And when you find a Champagne spot worth sharing, comment on an existing listing or add your own discovery to the Champagne Hunters map. A recent note about the Champagne selection or a good by-the-glass option can be much more useful than a generic review.
