Where to drink Champagne in Sardinia?
Sardinia is big, rugged and mostly quiet, but its north-east corner tells a different story. On the Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo fills up every summer with yachts, beach clubs and Champagne bars that stay open late. The rest of the island keeps things simpler, with wine bars in Olbia, Cagliari and the small towns along the coast.
Most of the Champagne on our map is in Gallura, the north-east of the island. Porto Cervo has several Champagne bars and lounges around the marina, and nearby Baja Sardinia has a beach club set into the granite rocks, known for its sunsets. Further north, Santa Teresa Gallura is smaller and more relaxed, with wine bars and seaside restaurants looking across the strait towards Corsica.
Olbia, the main arrival point for the north, has enoteche that keep Champagne next to Sardinian wines all year round. In the south, Cagliari has wine bars too, and the city stays lively long after the summer crowds have left the coast.
Explore the Champagne Hunters map before you go. If you find a bar or restaurant serving real Champagne that isn’t listed yet, add it to the map and help the next Champagne lover find it.
Good to know
The Costa Smeralda is very seasonal. Many venues in Porto Cervo and Baja Sardinia open only from around June to September, and August is the busiest and most expensive month. Prices in Porto Cervo match its reputation, so it’s worth checking the listing and the venue’s own website before you go. Distances on the island are bigger than they look: Olbia to Cagliari takes around three hours by car.
