Union Square Cafe

Danny Meyer’s first restaurant, open since 1985 and now at 101 East 19th Street near Union Square. The wine list has roughly 35 to 40 Champagnes by the bottle from about $120, including Billecart-Salmon, Pol Roger, Philipponnat, Paul Bara, Bérêche & Fils, Agrapart, Krug and Salon. Half bottles are a good way in: Marc Hébrart Mareuil-sur-Aÿ Premier Cru at $84, Jean Vesselle Brut Réserve at $92 and Billecart-Salmon Brut Réserve at $94. The sparkling wines poured by the glass on the current menu are a Lambrusco and a Crémant d’Alsace, so Champagne here is a bottle or half-bottle order.
