Where to drink Champagne in Gothenburg?
Gothenburg is a great city for Champagne, seafood and a relaxed Scandinavian atmosphere. As Sweden’s west coast food capital, the city has a strong restaurant and wine scene, with everything from cosy wine bars to more polished restaurants and hotel bars.
The city centre, Haga and Linné are good areas to explore, while the waterfront and harbour add a particularly nice setting for a glass of bubbles. Gothenburg’s seafood culture also makes it very easy to figure out what to eat with Champagne – oysters, prawns, crayfish and fresh fish are all excellent choices.
You’ll also find plenty of Swedish and international wines on local lists, and if you come across Swedish sparkling wine, it’s worth trying something made in this cool northern climate.
Good to know
Gothenburg works particularly well for a casual Champagne celebration. Spend the day exploring the city, head out for seafood and finish with a glass of bubbles – no elaborate occasion required.
Check the Champagne Hunters map before you go, and if you find a place that’s already listed, comment and share your experience. If you discover somewhere missing, add your find to the map yourself – especially if you find a good Champagne-by-the-glass option.
