Where to drink Champagne in Bucharest?
Bucharest has one of the most interesting restaurant and wine scenes in Romania, with plenty of wine bars, elegant restaurants and hotel bars where Champagne feels right at home. The city centre is a good starting point, but it’s worth looking beyond the historic centre too – neighbourhoods such as Dorobanți, Floreasca and Herăstrău have plenty of restaurants and more polished drinking spots.
Romania’s own wine culture is also worth exploring while you’re here. You’ll find Romanian wines on many local wine lists, including bottles made from native varieties such as Fetească Regală and Fetească Neagră, as well as local sparkling wines. It’s a good opportunity to try something genuinely Romanian alongside your Champagne.
Good to know
Bucharest is a city that works well for long dinners, wine bars and late evenings, so there’s no need to rush between stops. Explore the historic centre, take a break for Champagne and then continue into one of the city’s more modern neighbourhoods for dinner.
Check the Champagne Hunters map before you go, and if you find a place that’s already listed, comment and share your experience. If you discover somewhere missing, add your find to the map yourself – especially if you find a good Champagne-by-the-glass option.
