Where to drink Champagne in Lisbon?
Lisbon has a lively and increasingly sophisticated wine and restaurant scene, so finding Champagne here shouldn’t be too difficult. The city has everything from relaxed wine bars and neighbourhood restaurants to elegant hotels and fine-dining spots where Champagne fits naturally.
The areas around Chiado, Príncipe Real and Avenida da Liberdade are good places to start, but it’s worth looking beyond the obvious central streets too. Lisbon’s food scene is wonderfully varied, and Champagne can work just as well with a plate of oysters or seafood as it can with a more elaborate dinner.
Portugal’s own wine scene is also worth exploring while you’re here. Look for Espumante from Bairrada, as well as Portuguese whites and reds from the country’s many wine regions. It’s a fun way to compare local bubbles with Champagne rather than sticking only to what you already know.
Good to know
Lisbon is a great city for combining Champagne, seafood and a lot of walking. Explore the old neighbourhoods during the day, stop for a glass somewhere along the way and save dinner for one of the city’s many excellent restaurants.
Check the Champagne Hunters map before you go, and if you find a place that’s already listed, comment and share your experience. If you discover somewhere missing, add your find to the map yourself – especially if you find a good Champagne-by-the-glass option.
