Where to drink Champagne in Poland?
Poland has a surprisingly lively wine and restaurant scene, particularly in its larger cities. Warsaw is the obvious place to start, but Kraków, Wrocław, Gdańsk and Poznań are also worth exploring if you’re looking for Champagne, wine bars and restaurants with interesting wine lists.
Poland isn’t traditionally associated with wine, but that’s changing. The country has a small but growing local wine industry, with vineyards producing still and sparkling wines despite the cool climate. Polish wines are particularly interesting to try alongside local food, where you’ll find plenty of rich, salty and savoury flavours that can work beautifully with bubbles.
Good to know
Polish food is much more than pierogi, although you should obviously try those too. Smoked fish, pickled vegetables, fermented foods, mushrooms and local cheeses can all make surprisingly good partners for Champagne.
If you’re travelling around Poland, don’t just stick to the biggest cities. The country’s wine regions are still small, but they’re becoming increasingly interesting for anyone curious about what local producers can do.
