Where to drink Champagne in Utrecht?
Utrecht is a compact, lively city with a strong restaurant, wine and café culture, making it an easy place to explore with a glass of Champagne in mind. The historic centre is full of atmospheric streets and canals, with plenty of restaurants and bars tucked around them.
The area around Oudegracht is the obvious place to start, but I’d also explore Wittevrouwen and the Museum Quarter for a slightly different mix of restaurants, cafés and wine bars. Utrecht is smaller and more relaxed than Amsterdam, so it’s easy to combine a few stops without spending half the day getting between them.
The city also has a good local food scene, so Champagne doesn’t have to mean a formal dinner. A glass with lunch, seafood, cheese or a few small plates fits Utrecht rather well.
Good to know
Utrecht is an easy day trip from Amsterdam, but I think it’s worth staying overnight if you have the time. The canals and historic centre feel very different once the day-trippers have gone.
Check the Champagne Hunters map before you go, and if you visit a place already listed, comment and tell us what you found. If you discover somewhere missing, add it to the map yourself – especially if you find a good Champagne-by-the-glass option.
