Where to drink Champagne in Manama?
Manama is the capital of Bahrain, a small island kingdom in the Gulf where alcohol can be served legally in hotels and licensed restaurants. That makes it one of the easier cities in the region to enjoy a glass of Champagne, often with a view over the bay and the skyline.
Most of the Champagne on our map is in the big hotels. Around Bahrain Bay and the Financial Harbour, towers hold steakhouses, Asian restaurants and bars with wide views over the water. Along the coast in Seef, a beachfront resort has an Italian restaurant, a members-style lounge and a tiny dining room created together with a Champagne house. For something less hotel-based, Adliya is Manama’s restaurant district, with independent places in old villas and side streets.
Friday brunch is a Manama institution. Many hotels run weekend brunches with free-flowing drinks packages, and the Champagne package is usually the top option.
Explore the Champagne Hunters map before you go. If you find a bar or restaurant serving real Champagne that isn’t listed yet, add it to the map and help the next Champagne lover find it.
Good to know
The weekend in Bahrain falls on Friday and Saturday, and Friday brunch is the busiest time for hotel restaurants, so book ahead. Dress codes in hotel bars and restaurants are generally smart. Summers are extremely hot and humid, so the most comfortable months for terraces are roughly November to March. During Ramadan, rules on serving alcohol are stricter, so check with the venue before you go.
