Champagne bars and restaurants in Bahrain

Bahrain may be small, but it has a surprisingly rich mix of old and new. The island sits in the Arabian Gulf, where centuries of pearl diving and Arab trading culture meet modern hotels, ambitious restaurants, shopping destinations and a growing international food scene.

For Champagne lovers, that contrast is part of the appeal. You can spend the day walking through the old streets of Muharraq and following the story of Bahrain’s pearl trade, then end the evening with Champagne overlooking the Gulf or in one of Manama’s sophisticated hotels.

Bahrain is also an easy destination to combine with a wider Gulf trip. Many visitors come for a short city break, a Formula 1 weekend, a beach escape or simply to experience somewhere that feels different from its larger neighbours.

Where to look for Champagne

Manama is the natural starting point, particularly around the city’s luxury hotels and modern dining districts. Seef and the newer waterfront developments offer another side of Bahrain, with restaurants, hotels, shopping and views across the Gulf.

Muharraq is worth visiting for a completely different experience. Its historic streets and the Pearling Path give you a chance to see the Bahrain that existed before the modern skyline.

Good to know

Bahrain is best explored as a combination of Manama, Muharraq and the island’s coastal areas rather than as a single city experience. Give yourself time for both sides of the country: the modern restaurants and hotels, but also the souqs, heritage buildings and the history of pearl diving.

The weather is another reason Bahrain attracts winter travellers. Autumn and winter are considerably more comfortable for exploring outdoors, with temperatures around 25°C on average, while summer can reach around 45°C.

If you are visiting during the cooler months, this is a particularly good time to combine sightseeing, outdoor dining and an evening of Champagne.

Frequently asked questions

Where should I look for Champagne in Bahrain?

Manama is the best place to start, particularly around luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants and modern dining districts. Seef and the waterfront areas are also worth exploring, while Muharraq offers a more historic setting.

Is Champagne available in Bahrain?

Yes. Alcohol is regulated in Bahrain, but alcoholic drinks are available at licensed establishments including hotels and restaurants.

Is Bahrain a good destination for Champagne lovers?

Yes, especially if you enjoy combining Champagne with luxury hotels, fine dining, waterfront experiences and Middle Eastern culture. Bahrain offers a different atmosphere from larger Gulf destinations and has a long history of luxury connected to its pearl trade.

What food goes well with Champagne in Bahrain?

Seafood is an obvious choice, particularly given Bahrain’s island setting. Champagne can also work well with grilled seafood, lighter Middle Eastern dishes, fresh salads, delicate spices and dishes with citrus. For richer local food, a Champagne with more body can make an interesting pairing.

What else should I drink in Bahrain?

Explore Arabic coffee, tea, fresh juices and traditional Gulf drinks during the day. In licensed venues, Bahrain also has a broad international drinks scene, from wine and Champagne to cocktails and spirits.

What should I do in Bahrain besides drinking Champagne?

Explore the Pearling Path in Muharraq, visit the Bahrain National Museum, walk through Manama Souq, discover Bahrain Fort, spend time by the sea or plan a visit around an event at Bahrain International Circuit. The country combines heritage, shopping, beaches, food and motorsport in a relatively compact area.

Is Bahrain worth visiting?

Definitely, especially if you want something more intimate than the larger Gulf cities. Bahrain combines ancient history, pearl-diving heritage, Arabic culture, beaches, modern hospitality, excellent restaurants and a surprisingly international lifestyle scene. It is small enough to explore without spending your entire trip travelling between attractions.
