Manchester has a lively and increasingly sophisticated restaurant, bar and wine scene, with Champagne easy to find in everything from stylish cocktail bars and restaurants to luxury hotels. The city centre is the obvious place to start, particularly around Spinningfields, Deansgate and the Northern Quarter, but there are plenty of good spots beyond the centre too.
Manchester is also a great city for a Champagne celebration without making it too formal. And when it comes to what to eat with Champagne, think oysters, seafood, smoked salmon, British cheeses or even something saltier and more indulgent from the city’s huge food scene.
If you’re exploring beyond Champagne, keep an eye out for English sparkling wine too. Bottles from Sussex, Kent and Hampshire are increasingly appearing on good wine lists around the UK.
Manchester is a good choice if you want Champagne with a more energetic city atmosphere. Spend the day exploring the city, stop for a glass or two and make an evening of it with dinner and drinks.
