Where to drink Champagne in Amsterdam?
Amsterdam is a very good city for Champagne Hunters because you don’t have to build your entire day around finding a bottle. Champagne turns up in wine bars, restaurants, hotels and cocktail-focused spots, and the city’s compact centre makes it easy to move between very different kinds of places.
The Canal Ring, De Pijp, Jordaan and Oud-Zuid are all worth exploring, but don’t assume the most obvious tourist streets will have the most interesting wine lists. Amsterdam rewards a little wandering.
Amsterdam is particularly good for the kind of Champagne drinking that doesn’t need a special occasion. Find a sunny terrace by the canals, order a glass and let lunch turn into an afternoon.
The city’s food scene is incredibly international, so you can pair Champagne with almost anything – oysters and seafood, Dutch cheeses, Asian-inspired dishes, fried snacks or a more elaborate tasting menu.
And yes, you can absolutely order Champagne with bitterballen. We’re not judging.
Where should I go for wine in Amsterdam?
There isn’t one single wine neighbourhood you need to stick to. De Pijp is great for food and drinks, the Jordaan has plenty of cosy spots tucked between the canals, and Oud-Zuid has a more polished restaurant and hotel scene.
The Canal Ring is obviously worth exploring too, especially if you’re visiting for the first time. But when it comes to Champagne, I’d use the Champagne Hunters map rather than simply searching for the most popular streets. You might find something much more interesting a few blocks away.
Good to know
Amsterdam is an easy city to explore without planning every stop. Walk, cycle, follow the canals and stop when somewhere catches your eye. Then use the Champagne Hunters map when you actually want to know where you can find Champagne.
And if you visit one of the places already listed, comment and tell us what you found. If you discover somewhere missing from the map, add it yourself – especially if you find a good Champagne-by-the-glass option.
