Where to drink Champagne in Turku?
Turku is one of Finland’s strongest food cities, and Champagne fits naturally into the mix. The city has a good selection of wine-focused restaurants and bars, alongside a lively riverside scene where you can stop for a glass, stay for dinner or make an evening of it.
A lot of Turku’s food and drink life happens around the Aura River. The riverfront is lined with restaurants, terraces and bars, making it easy to combine sightseeing with a glass of Champagne or a longer dinner. In summer, the riverside becomes especially lively, with terraces and outdoor dining overlooking the water.
Turku is also a good city for wine lovers. Viinille is a wine-focused restaurant in the centre with around 200 wines, most of them available by the glass. Further along the river, Veistämö Wine Bar focuses on small-producer wines and pairs them with tapas, cheeses and charcuterie.
Food is a big part of Turku’s identity, and the city is particularly connected to the Finnish Archipelago. Look for local fish, seasonal ingredients and archipelago-inspired dishes when you’re choosing somewhere to pair your Champagne with dinner. Restaurants such as OOBU put those flavours directly on the menu.
Good to know
Turku works well for Champagne at different times of the day. You can have a glass with lunch, sit down for a riverside dinner or head to a wine bar for a more wine-focused evening.
And if you’re visiting in summer, don’t overlook the Aura River waterfront. It’s one of the easiest places in Turku to combine food, drinks and a bit of people-watching without having to plan your whole evening around one destination.
